Hello and welcome to my little corner of the web! I started this blog to write predominantly about food and wine, but decided at the start of 2016 to also include my experiences as an expat, being a mum to two beautiful boys, mothering a child with special needs, and ultimately finding my place, and my voice, in this great big world.
I am a writer/editor by profession, but have been a Stay-At-Home-Mum (SAHM) since the birth of my son Liam in 2012 and then Nolan in 2014.
I've travelled and lived in many countries over the past fifteen years. Born and raised in Malaysia, I moved to Michigan, USA in 2001 to complete my double degrees in Communications and Psychology. In 2007, I moved to Auckland, New Zealand, and consequently met the man who was to be my husband.
Together, The Husband and I have spent a few years moving between New Zealand and Malaysia before making the unexpected move to Karlsruhe, Germany in 2012, and there we stayed as I navigated the waters of first-time parenting while living in a country where I did not speak the language. It was also in Germany when my son Liam was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome, a rare, neurodevelopment genetic disorder. This has been a life-changer for me, for us, in so many ways. All my dreams about having a 'normal' family, returning to work, and even where we live, have changed because of my son's needs for extra medical attention and therapies.
In February 2015 we made the decision to return to Auckland, a city that has a special place in my heart. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are now back in Germany and on a quest to finally find a place to call home.
I am especially passionate about food, wine and travel writing as well as sharing my experiences as a mother and an expat.
Life has taken me to many unexpected places, and through many unexpected journeys, but through it all it's pushed me into a journey of self-discovery as I learn more about myself with each experience, and try my best to live my own unique adventure in what is hopefully a positive and inspiring way.
Thank you for being here, and welcome to my world.
